Remember, Remember the 5th November!

thundershirt-blog-post-1-1024x683Just a quick reminder to all our Greyhound Friends and Families out there that there may be lots of whizz-pops and bangs this week, so do remember that our furries can find this time particularly distressing if they are not good with loud noises. Our best advice is to make sure your pooches have a nice long walk and extra toilet breaks before dusk falls so that you can keep them in for the evening. We’d advise against leaving nervous hounds home alone in the evenings this week, and have other tips to help if you need to get in touch. One thing than some people have mentioned success with is “ThunderShirt”, which can be worn by your hound like a t-shirt, which has velcro fastners that give a “hugging” sensation, similar to that experienced by a puppy snuggling up to its mum! ThunderShirts are available from Pets at Home, and remember, if you do shop at Pets at Home, make sure you pick up a loyalty card, and nominate the RGT as your chosen charity for Pets at Home to support! We wish you all a safe and happy Bonfire Night 🙂

Dunrunnin hounds spread the word at paws in the park!

558264_162569697275502_538595982_n1We’ve only been open for a few weeks now, but we figured it’s never too early to start spreading the word about this terrific charity, so off our lovely Turkey went, with his little friend Shiloh (together with a suitcase full of marmalade sandwiches) to tell the good folk of Kent about the opening of DunRunnin Greyhound Rehoming Kennels, in Brands Hatch!

Turkey & Shiloh were pleased to get a warm reception by the public at Paws in the Park, held at Kent Showground, Detling, and Turkey received many a complement on his homemade sandwich-board style jersey made from an old racing vest and a laminated leaflet – tee hee! Hopefully, we’ll have some more professional looking tabards made up in time for our next outing, but cheeky little Shiloh is convinced that the homemade look was responsible for many of the kind donations we received on the day! Thank you again for all of the kind words of support and encouragement we received!
