We’re thrilled to report that our tea hut transformation is really taking shape, and it won’t be long before we’re able to invite you all around for a nice cuppa! Since opening in September 2013, our main focus has been on improving the state of repair and condition of our kennels for the benefit of our beloved Greyhound Residents 🙂 This is of course how things should be, but it has meant that our poor old volunteers have been stuck with a damp old garden shed in which to congregate, which is fine in the summer months, but very cold, wet and windy in the winter! However, those days of sitting shivering in a smelly old shed, after long wet doggy walks, will soon be behind us – hurrah!
We’ve been extremely lucky to receive some funding from the RGT organised “Fall for Hounds”, a sponsored parachute jump which took place at Sibson Airfield near Peterborough, on 16 June 2014. Everyone who participated jumped from a light aircraft 13,000 feet high – that’s 2 miles and a 50 second free fall! As a result of the brave efforts of these RGT supporters, we’ve been able to demolish our garden shed, and refurbish an existing outbuilding to create a new Welcome Center (or Tea Hut, as we fondly call it) and a new office for Karen to keep all of that paper work in! As you can see, the result is a very warm and welcoming area, which our hounds are already taking over!
Now that the works are nearly finished, why not pop in to see us for a cuppa?!
